WESTERN & SOUTHERN OPEN 22'

The US Open series continues its journey in Cincinati. The tournament featuring action in warm up for the oldest major professional tennis outdoor event play in its original city.

Here is the OhProTennins point of view toward this sunday's final.

Petra Kvitova vs Caroline Garcia

The two times Wimbledon Champion, Petra Kvitova, has a terrific run at the Western & Southern Open this week after her ranking dropped to 28 lately. Her confidence of winning a big hitter, Madison Keys, in the semi made her the favorite to win her 30th title of her career. On the other hand, her opponent, Caroline Garcia, also played incredible tennis by winning over a couple of top ten seeds on her way to the final this Sunday. I think the experienced left-handed Grand Slam champion like Kvitova can win over the rising star Caroline Garcia who spent a lot more time on the court since she had to come through qualifying matches.

Prediction: Kvitova in 3

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Borna Coric

The dark horse Croat, Borna Coric, who upset Rafael Nadal in the second round has a tremendous run in Cincinnati this week despite his year long shoulder injury lay off. His big serves are unbelievably more effective than before. Even though Tsitsipas has improved his tactic of playing mostly baseline to serve and volley and win over Medvedev in the semi, he will have to work harder to overcome his opponent’s aggressive play like Coric who works so hard to up his ranking to be seeded for the coming US Open.

Prediction: Coric in 3

As always, enjoy tennis everyone...
