Men Semi Finals FOUR

1. Karen Khachanov vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas

These two players had competed five times in the past and Tsitsipas won all of them. Anyone can go with Tsitsipas if relying on the stat of H2H shown. Khachanov reached the semi final of the US Open last year, so the AO is his consecutive grand slam semi final. He has learned a lot from his mistakes that he lost to Casper Rudd at the US Open. He started his journey this year quite strong enough to reach the semi finals here again with much more confidence. Besides his big serves, his baseline powerful exchanges can threaten Tsitsipas if he keeps attacking him on the backhand sides. But he must not make a lot of unforced errors in order to turn his history around against Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas, on the other hand, has developed his usual style of baseline players to a serve and volley tactic to attack an opponent whenever he gets his chances to charge at the net to shorten the rallying. His records of reaching semi finals 3 consecutive times in the AO will make him more hungry for the victory enroute to the final. His powerful serves bailed him out of breakpoints many times in this tournament especially in the thrilling 5-setter match won over Jannik Sinner, saving 22 of 26 breakpoints. Despite the stats and strength of his opponent, I would cheer on Khachanov to overturn the history of losing streak and try to get his sixth time charming win over Tsitsipas. Khachanov wins in 5

2. Novak Djokovic vs. Tommy Paul

This matchup is quite easy to predict if I haven’t had a chance to see how the 25-year old American player, Paul, displayed his games lately. He has more variety in his games compared to the two players, de Minaur and Rublev, Djokovic had beaten in the earlier rounds and made Djokovic work a little harder. At least, he may find the way to win a set over the 21 times grand slam champion and particularly 9 times here in AO. Djokovic wins in 3
